I have 2 Children (12 & 15) who work with Phil in Rock Room. Everyone knows that Phil is an amazing musician, what really impresses me is the patience he shows when teaching these kids. It's more than just learning a song. They are learning teamwork, dependability, and lastly they are gaining confidence. Not just the confidence to perform music, but confidence in themselves. I never thought that my kids would be able to get on stage in front of a crowd and perform. Words alone can not express the feeling you get as a parent when you see your children over achieve their goals.
Ourthree children take guitar lessons at the Rock Room. Mr. Zuckerman is a wonderful teacher who makes the lessons exciting and enjoyable. He always takes the time to listen to the kids, whether it is a question about the lesson or a corny joke, he makes our kids feel special. We encourage anyone who would like to learn how to play to visit the Rock Room and sign up for lessons.

Thank you so much for the opportunity you give them. I can see the growth in both of them from this experience. I think the increase in confidence alone has been such a benefit. Michelle Fransen
Let There Be Rock Kids To Take The Stage On Sunday
My son Brett has been with Phil for over two years now and he loves to play his guitar and now he is showing off his vocals that we didn't even know he had :) . My daughter Heather loves singing and now she is learning to play drums with Phil and she sings in a band with Phil also. Brett's band is the High Fives and Heather’s band is Swift Kick. My family enjoys coming to watch the bands perform at Sweet Caroline’s. Thank youfor everything that the Rock Room has given to my children.
Hey parents of Winchester! If your kid wants to be in a rock band, but doesn't know where to start, send them to The Rock Room!Phil Fly Zuckermanis a great teacher and the program is wonderful! Many of my voice students have been a part of The Rock Room and love it. Rock On!!!The Rock Room offers a musically equipped facility for musicians of all ages to learn an instrument and the option of playing with one of the Rock Room bands once they have learned the basics. Vocalists are also welcome to join the bands. The bands select songs and rehearse once a week for an hour for three months followed by a recital concert at a local venue for family and friends. The focus is to have musicians experience being in a band for fun and recreation.
The Rock Room opened in Sept. 2009. Many of my students wanted to get together with other musicians which led me to the idea of the Rock Room.

Our intention is to inspire young musicians with the gift of music and provide the setting and opportunity to those who otherwise might not participate in such an activity.
The Rock Room musicians often travel miles to be a part of something very unique. Most enjoy the experience as a hobby. Others are very serious and are considering a career in the music industry.

The Rock Room teachers have decades of real life experience to share with the students. All lessons are given in a safe and nurturing environment.

Parents often are present and in some instances have been former students themselves. This says a lot about the Rock Room. The Rock Room is becoming a multi-generational experience.
Some students have gone on to international status gaining both major T.V and entertainment markets while others currently perform with many local bands.

The Rock Room musicians meet to achieve a common goal. This instills a sense of responsibility with the musicians and also provides a meaningful social network in which the musicians get to feel a part of something. Perhaps this could be viewed as an extended family and will hopefully create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

The Rock Room organizes live performances four times a year at local major venues. There is nothing like a live performance to test a musician’s skill. Family and friends attend and support the musician’s effort.
My approach is to get the fingers going by learning open and power chords and strumming patterns by playing along with songs that I have selected (classic and modern rock).

I begin with chords since that is what guitar players do 99% of the time. Playing along with the songs pushes the student to develop speed and acts as a metronome to develop the skill of listening and playing at the same time which they will need later on when playing with other musicians.

I use chord charts for the lessons so reading music is not required. I can teach note reading and theory if the student is interested.
