San Antonio Music Academy is devoted to excellence in music education. As one of our core values, we aim to “be the epitome of excellence and quality in education. (To see a complete list of our core values, click here.) SAMA guitar instructors are dedicated to this value and believe that an aspiring musician can reach his or her goals with enough determination and hard work.
SAMA guitar instructors guide their students towards their goals by instructing them each week on a new set of material and helping them perfect the skills learned in the previous lesson. Students are given weekly assignments, much like they are given in academic school, geared towards developing the skills necessary to become an accomplished musician. The students here at San Antonio Music Academy have varied goals, from playing pop songs in the privacy of their room to playing in a rock band with classmates from their school, and some even hope to pursue music education and performance at a collegiate level. Whatever a student’s interest, we encourage our students to express this to their instructor so that the private lessons an instructor creates will be constructed with this in mind. We know that students succeed when given goals that are both interesting and challenging.
As part of our program at SAMA, we encourage students to perform in our formal recitals which give students the opportunity to showcase their talent for family and friends. Performance is a skill in and of itself, and one that we feel is an essential part of being a musician. For those really ambitious guitarists, we have ensemble classes that will give them a group setting and teach them essential skills useful for playing and performing with other musicians. Students enrolled in these ensemble classes, get real-world experience of what it’s like to play in a band, all under the direction of SAMA’s highly experienced and university educated guitar instructors.

San Antonio Music Academy has a rigorous selection process when choosing instructors to work for our academy. We want only the best on staff so that everyone involved has a positive experience with our academy. In addition to the qualifications of our instructors (each having a Bachelor’s degree or higher), we understand that student safety and respect is paramount. This is why each of our instructors takes a certified safety training program when hired in addition to the extensive background check we run. Instructors at San Antonio Music Academy understand the needs of their students and that each student has a different motivation for learning. Our passion is to take a student’s goals and make them a reality.
In addition to the formal education our guitar instructors have received (Click here to see SAMA guitar instructor bios), they are each accomplished performers in their own right. Some play classical guitar for private events and faulty concerts, while others play jazz at local jazz clubs within the San Antonio area. And yet others play in their very own rock band. Through their experience and education, SAMA instructors have the proficiency to train their students in the genre of their interest. (Click here to view guitar instructor performance videos.)

I started teaching at the age of 17 sharing my knowledge with children of my coworkers before I had formal education. Since then, I have had the opportunity to be a guitar instructor at Camp Lonehollow and have had private students during my time as a guitar pedigodgy student. A strong understanding of the fretboard and consistent quality practice is essential for any aspiring musician. I encourage my students to enter competitions and find chances to perform on their own. My methods include a number of fundamentals that include scales, technique and learning how to get around the instrument with ease and versatility. For beginners, I like to focus on the George Vance techniques and teaching in order to build a strong foundation. At the intermediate level, I like to find out what the students find interesting and cater the lesson plans around that. Same applies for adult students, I like to see where their interest are and focus on those aspects during the lessons while ensuring that their fundamental chops are at the level they need to be. No I was actually defused by most music teachers so I actually got out and audition in bands and immerse myself into anything musically situation and later by being determined the doors of opportunities where opening and as creative as I was my artist gifts grew into my song writing and composing the more I did it the better I got my inspiration came from within myself deep inside knowing I had a little more than my musical mentors so basically music is about believing in yourself and captivating an audience with a musical universal appeal you can always learn small tricks from others but honing your musical passion is what it's all about
I had no choice I was giving a guitar instead of a drum-set early on cause either of my divorced parents didn't have enough money to buy me a drum-set so I was giving a hand me down guitar by my Dad and my Father would spend his time recording me sing basically non-sense on a tape deck so I grew up trying my hardest to learn to play it my uncle took me under his wing and begun teaching me what little he knew than he introduced me to a neighborhood rock n roll band and that's where it all started coming together until this very day that band continues to perform their original music.
I've written and composed many songs and continue to write and record that's my main accomplishment and still continues to be till this very day I done many performances with many people it's been great but you can't be as good as the greats if you don't do your home work it's very competitive but it's all how well you write first of all and that's the main accomplishment I can't stress more than anything once you can master your craft your gift the rest is simple another accomplishment is being a awesome entertainer on stage that's
