The history of the Musicmaster stretches back to the mid-'50s, when it was introduced as one of 's first-ever 3/4 scale student model guitars. Though the Musicmaster design underwent several updates and modifications over the years, it’s never looked quite like this.
The body of the Shawn Mendes Musicmaster is a literal work of art – boasting a fan's rendition of an intricate floral design. This distinctive flower motif is also reflected subtly in the pickguard – accented by a sleek gloss finish, knurled flat-top control knobs and nickel/chrome hardware.

The Musicmaster was chosen, a design that was conceived in 1955 as a student guitar, very fitting considering the youth of the artist, who has already been nominated three times for the Grammy.
In addition to the striking flower power look (design Adolphe Millot - Fr)it is the carefully selected components that make the guitar a thoroughly adult instrument. A solid alder body with a bolt-on maple neck provides a balanced frequency spectrum with a tendency towards lively highs. In the bridge position sits a so-called TexMex single coil, which produces an increased midrange and a little more output. This goes very well with the humbucker sound in the neck position, which is naturally more powerful. On top of that, the double coil can be split, which gives the sound transparency and Tele-like tones.
The Shawn Mendes Musicmaster is first and foremost an excellent rhythm guitar, but thanks to its optimal ballance and playing comfort up into the upper registers, it is without question a virtuoso solo instrument.
