Find a local music store, a private instructor, or a friend that can begin teaching your child about playing guitar. I often try to encourage the parents of my students to sit in on the lessons and learn too.
The important part is that you or the guitar teacher introduce these fundamentals in a way that doesn’t discourage your child. Students at this age can be easily discouraged when they are unable to learn something right away.
You should observe the first couple of lessons and communicate with the guitar teacher your expectations and goals. Progress is significant, but at this age, it is still about learning through playing and discovery.
