Kramer Guitar Mick Mars

Kramer Guitar Mick Mars

Ultra Rare Kramer KM-1, from the end of the 80-s, that guitar model was designed for Mick Mars from multiplatinium, selfdestructed band MOTLEY CRUE and same as his own guitars captured in epic videos from MTV era 'Kickstart My Heart' and Same Ol Situation and on live shows from Dr.Feelgood Tour.

This Kramer Mirror Top Tele Shape guitars was made in small butch in Japan in the end of the 80-s (no one knows the exact number, but they say no more than 50 pieces have been made, I have been selling guitars for more than 20 years and have only seen them for sale twice)

Kramer

And this Kramer is a quintessenece of the hair metal axe from the 80's- original floyd rose, one humbucker, one volume, glorious mirror top-and huge rock sound with awesome presense !!!

According to one of the many legends surrounding Motley Crew, this Kramers was made Dr.Feelgood before the tour (in which they were accompanied by their own drag dealer) in order not to run to the toilet for the another road , but to roll it right on the mirror top of the guitar.

This is a ultra rare Kramer with Tele-Shape body made from Maple wood. In regards to quality of wood, workmanship, playability, aesthetics, performance and comfort this guitar surpasses any and all top of the line 1987 Kramers. This guitar came from the Kramer Japanese factory with a Floyd Rose . It also came from the factory with the KP-100 Kramer branded PAF pickup. This pickup is in actuality an ESP custom PAF and the predecessor to the famous ESP LH-200 PAF 'brown sound' pickup. All the wiring and electronics are original.

Mirror top has a small cracks and darkening of the amalgam, but this is a completely original guitar with no changes and modifications. Hard Case included!

Learn MoreI was looking through one of my old Motley Crue SIN CLUB newsletters from 1986/1987 in which Mick talks in detail about his new signature Kramer that was in the works. I am curious as to why this line of guitars never came into fruition here in the states. I know Mick didn't have the star power of EVH or R. Sambora, but Motley Crue only got bigger and better from 1986 through 1990, so it seems that it would have made good sense for Kramer to have moved forward with a production run during that time. They did endorse and utilize MM for various advertisements, like the 1989 Kramer advertisement below, but even this add doesn't call the guitars MM signature series or offer them as available for purchase.

Clearly there was enough appeal in the Japanese market for Kramer Japan to do a few of the Mick Mars Girls Girls Girls and mirror top telecasters and a run or two of the MM style tele's that you see from TommyGuitars every once and a long while.

Kramer

I guess I am just wondering if anybody out there knows the story behind why these guitars never made it to production.

Mötley Crüe's Mick Mars Retires From Touring For Health Reasons

Kramer is known for its business decisions and the inconsistency of them. Some where really good, some where really bad. The longer I look at that photo the more I think that probably someone in the management thought, why, cool band, cool guitar player but completely outdated guitar shape. Nobody wants to buy Telecasters any more - this is the age of the Super-STRAT

Mick

And maybe it was something totally different. All I know is that I always liked the shape of the MM config. I really dig the Tele-Charvels as well. It´s just effin cool to my eyes.

Here are a few better shots of the white one (incidentally, this is the guitar that I modeled my Firebird finish/headstock/hardware after).
