Strap

As the title says, I'm in need of a strap solution for my classical guitar. I have few herniated discs in my lumbar spine, and I've been told to try and stand instead of sitting as much as possible.

How To Attach An Acoustic Guitar Strap

I'm only a recital away from receiving my Masters Degree, and since I've been delaying practicing because of my pain, I want to get it done and over with.

I DO NOT want to drill my Pavlos Gypas; therefore I kindly ask all those who have found a good solution to get some kind of strap on and play while standing to help!

If you dont want a butt button, then all I can think of is the classical guitar strap that hooks on to the sound hole.

Choosing The Right Guitar Strap

I have one. Tried it. Hated it. The strap is thin and hangs around your neck, and cuts in. It also feels really insecure. You have to have your hand on the guitar at all times or it will tumble forward, but you could get used to it if you had to.

I then installed the butt button. I tie the other end above the nut. Totally secure and comfortable. Did that on 2 guitars.

I'm thankful for your feedback, stability is really important since I'll be playing a serious repertoire like Rossiniana 2 for example. I'm reluctant to drill though

Fretwraps String Muters (3 Pack)

Do you currently use a footstool or a guitar rest? I have severe scoliosis and ditched the footstool years ago in favour a guitar rest. I tried a couple and found the De Oro worked best for me but I appreciate that your situation may be completely different to mine (for one you are a much more accomplished player than me given that you are near completion of your Master Degree - well done on that b.t.w.).

Stupid

Thanks for the answers guys! The Setti harness is out of stock, I sent an e-mail asking if they're still in business, hope they'll answer - it looks really interesting.

Slider straps work very well for me. But you would need to drill holes and install strap buttons. I have installed strap buttons on about half a dozen guitars now, and have no qualms about doing so. However, to each their own, and I know a lot of people are averse to installing strap buttons on their classical guitars.

How Do I Attach A Guitar Strap? This Is How It Works.

I hope you find a solution that works for you, and also Hope that you do not suffer further pain from herniated discs.

One has a beautiful, romantic, classical guitar, and then one forces it into something that looks like it was made from spare parts at an S&M factory?

What

All because one is too afraid to put a tiny, unnoticeable button on the butt? Also - regular guitar straps come in a vast array of beautiful, romantic colours and patterns which, IMO, compliment the CG guitar.

How To Fix A Broken Guitar Strap Button

I don't get it. I understand not wanting a button screwed in at the top of the body, but that one isn't neccessary.

Too funny, Mollbarre! I agree - an inconspicuous button would be a trade-off I would make any day if it alleviated any pain in playing. It's a simple solution.

This player uses a couple of suction cups with his classical guitar. I tried it for a while and had no issues, other than, in the end, not liking straps.

I have some 25 ft long 1 webbing from my rock climbing days which I just dug up and will give it a try. Thanks for the reminder!

There's a chance it could slip off the guitar due the slippery nature of the webbing. A different non slippery material would be more secure. The slipping may be preventable if a loop is added around the back of the guitar, attached with Velcro. Overall, I think it's a good idea for a simple and cheap shoulder strap.
