Absolutely love it! I a couple sets of tulip buttons in pearl. Not only does it work great on grover-equipped Les Pauls, it also works great on my PRS.

Best fucking tuners and buttons out there!! I’ve installed over 10 sets in the guitars I’ve owned. Maybe hipshot should hipshoot me a discount.
These are the deco knobs on Grover rotomatics. A little tight to the shaft but with some gentle pressure from a tiny c clamp and everything protected from scratches they went on snugly and work flawlessly! I will use Hipshot products to replace every kidney bean tuner I get for the rest of my life!
They work fine on the Grover tuning machines that came with my 2017 J-45 Standard. They're not what I would call pearl but I knew that going in and I got exactly what I wanted. Thanks.
Gold & Pearl Tuning Machines
Wanted a little more flair than just all black hardware. Went with pearl butter bean. Turned out nice. The Grovers have the half moon mini shape, but the butter bean looks nice and I like the dished sides. It makes them easier to get a grip on. They are a perfect fit on Grover tuners.
I changed all the hardware on a new USA Gibson explore to gold. The explorer comes with mini rotomatics and the pearl tulip tuner buttons do for and function perfectly. And replace the kidney beans that I hate. Makes the guitar I must say!
I purchased a set of 6 tulip style (D04) tuner buttons in Pearl color and I couldn't be happier. I installed them on Grover sealed tuners on a 2015 Gibson Memphis ES-339, and they went on easily. I was a little concerned about the color because the Hipshot on-line catalog color is a darker hue, almost green. Fortunately another buyer has posted a couple of pics of how they look installed, and that gave me confidence to buy them. They have a vintage pale-yellowish pearloid color. In dim light, the color is a little darker, perhaps hinting at a bit of green if you use your imagination. To my eyes they match the old-school vintage Kluson style single ring tulip pearloid buttons remarkably well. Very happy. Thanks, Hipshot!
Quality Tuners Can Make Any Ukulele—old Or New—sound And Play Better
Worked well to replace Grover buttons! Though I did lose the smooth tuning tension adjustment of the original screw, these just go on until they're tight enough and have that specific tension. If you try to increase that tension by tightening further, they could crack/break (this is for the pearl tulips). They still work just fine though for me. A purist wouldn't like the look up close, but looks perfectly fine up on stage.
I like Grover Locking Tuners but just not a kidney bean key button fan. Hipshot's buttons look great and are super easy to install.
Love the look of these on my Custom Shop Jackson SL1!!! Have since put them on all my Jacksons! Fit right on the stock tuners with no issues.

How To Upgrade Your Guitar Tuners
The buttons that came with my elite telecaster looked too modern. but now I updated them with the buttons D05 Butter Bean from Hipshot and the guitar looks amazing. the shaft is the exact same measure as the fender locking tuners, so it all took me 5 minutes to replace used the screws that came from hipshot that were prettier and now my tele looks a bit more vintage. I will not say i'm playing better now, but i'm not playing worse. ha! Now it's a stunner! Truly a perfect job from these guys at hipshot. This is top tier craftsmanship. And they were REALLY helpful with all my questions about sizes and sent me all detailed measurements and followed up on my quest to make this happen. Josh and Oscar from Hipshot really went the extra extra mile to help me. Cheers guys!
These fit Grover Rotomatic tuners. The Tulip style looks amazing on a DEAN GUITAR with the V headstock! Really suits it and couldn't be happier!
These fit the Ibanez 8 string tuners on the Ibanez RG8. They also fit Agile Intrepid 8 string. Look amazing and have weight and sure quality. Will buy again.
Gotoh Tuning Machine Buttons
Just built 3 guitars for myself and hipshot product are all I use! The timers are all I use. Love that ‘grip’ style tuning buttons. And not mention the bridges!!
What the world needs, or at least Hipshot locking tuners, is a button to match Gibson tulip tuners as used on 335s, Les Pauls, and some customer shop guitars like the Johnny A model. I'd love to have locking tuners on my Gibsons, but don't was that particular aesthetic to change. I do have a set of the HS buttons on my Fender Strat in black: great tuners!

Perfect! I was getting ready to purchase Grover Rotogrips for my Strat until I saw these bad boys. Same concept as the rotogrips, but you can change the buttons to maintain that vintage vibe! Nicely done!
Rodgers Precision Tuning Machine Heads
Great tuning buttons for the Hipshot locking tuners. I bought the A12 buttons and they look great and seem very solid. A nice (and affordable) way to dress up the tuners. Wish they offered more color and shape options...This old Gretsch archtop guitar came into the shop in need of a bit of an overhaul. The instrument had been sitting unused for many years and the client was hoping to restore it to playable condition.
Shrunken, crumbly, plastic tuning machine buttons are not uncommon on vintage instruments. As it ages, plastic breaks down. This makes the plastic brittle. Eventually, the tuning machine’s buttons deteriorate to the point that they can no longer hold up to the pressure exerted upon them from normal use. If forced, they may fall apart entirely. This can make restringing or even simply tuning the instrument impossible
Plastic deterioration is also a concern with vintage pickguards. As you can see in the photo, the knob has dried out and begun to crack. This tuner will not be reliable without repair.
Grover/hipshot Rotomatic Buttons
If this were a newer guitar, we may have simply upgraded the original 12:1 tuners with something a bit higher quality. However, with vintage instruments, we try to retain as much originality as is practical. Rather than replace the entire tuning machine, we elected to swap out just the worn buttons. This same procedure could be used to replace “vintage-style” tuner buttons on modern reproduction tuning machines when broken or a different type of button is desired for a custom look.

During removal we check that the mounting screws are in good shape and that they will be able to tighten securely later. If needed, we will take the opportunity to repair and/or replace any stripped or worn out screws.
After removal, the tuner is placed securely in a bench vice; Once in place, we use diagonal cutters to snip off the old knob.
Guitar Machine Heads Tuners
These plastic vintage style buttons are typically press fit onto the metal shaft. Though the buttons have an opening on one side, it is too small to easily fit over the tuning machine shaft.
However, when properly heated, the plastic button molds around the metal as it is pressed into place. The trick is to apply enough concentrated heat to fit the button, but not so much as to risk damaging the tuner.
Heat pressing the knobs into position works great for the plastic knobs used in this repair. However, it is worth noting that certain types of buttons, Ebony for example, cannot be fit using the method described. In those situations, in lieu of heating and pressing the knob, we carefully file and shape the knobs opening to conform to the tuning machine shaft. Once we have obtained a secure fit, it is glued into position.
