Unser Exemplar ist in Topzustand, kommt mit roter anstatt blauer Lampe (die blaue Originale liegt bei) und mit einem 12″ Weber USA Speaker anstatt des originalen 10″ Celestions.
Bereits fünf Jahre vor Gründung des Gibson Custom Shop wurde diese historisch weitgehend korrekte Reissue einer ’56er Goldtop, limitiert auf 200 Stück, vorgestellt. Der besondere Clou der Serie war die handgeschriebene Originalsignatur von „Les Paul“ Lester William Polsfuss (1915-2009) auf jedem einzelnen Pickguard dieser 200 Goldtops. Die Gitarre kostete damals umgerechnet etwa 1500, - €, die zwei letzten, die im Netz aufgetaucht waren, gingen beide über 5000, - € weg. Sie kommt mit allem Zubehör (siehe oberstes Foto), hat ab Werk P-100 Pickups, spielt und klingt erstklassig, wiegt allerdings 4, 7 kg! Wie es aussieht, ist unser Exemplar momentan das einzige verfügbare am Weltmarkt. Wir hätten gern einen Euro pro Gramm! Antesten und Abholung in der Veranda-Guitar-Gallery ist möglich und erwünscht!

Ein absolutes Einzelstück: Ein Vorserienmodell der umstrittenen „Dark Fire“! Dieses Exemplar ist im Gegensatz zum überzüchteten Serienmodell glücklicherweise ganz puristisch gehalten: ohne Chameleon-Tone-Technology, Piezo-PU, Robot-Tuners und ganz ohne Batterie. Man findet hier nur die Vorteile wieder: federleicht, Ebenholzgriffbrett mit Carbon-Inlays, P-90 mit Carbon Kappe, 1981er „Tim Shaw“ Humbucker in Stegposition, „Flowerpot“-Inlay in der Kopfplatte, rote „Dark Fire“ Trussrodabdeckung aus Alu, „Tronical“ Bridge und Stoptail. Im ’66er VOX Katalog wurde die Spitfire folgendermaßen beschrieben: „Contoured body, quick flick 3 position pick-up switch, 3 pick-ups, rosewood fingerboard, true spring action vibrato, adjustable master bridge channel, 6 individual string bridges, sunburst or popular colors. 2-way string damper.“ Ein Gurtpin wurde mal versetzt. Ansonsten ist sie in gutem Originalzustand und kommt auch im Originalkoffer! Made in Italy.
